Driving Performance: Conducting Rigorous Testing to Fuel Aggressive Business Expansion
Helped Asego Develop A Digital Insurance Platform For Overseas Travellers
Asego had a very broad business model, including B2C, B2B, and collaboration with third-party insurance service providers, like Tata AIG, Star Health Insurance, etc. They offered insurance in various sectors, including but not limited to life insurance, travel insurance, health insurance, car insurance, and bike insurance. Having such a massive business to operate, Asego was looking for a software development company that can create a full-fledged web application, representing their business comprehensively. That’s when they came in touch with Binmile and asked to fulfill their web app development requirements. A team of accomplished developers at Binmile built an app where individual consumers can buy desired insurance policies easily, interested organizations can purchase group insurance plans for their employees, and a myriad of agents can shop for insurance policies on behalf of potential customers.
To make their B2B business model work successfully, we performed third-party integration into Asego’s portal which is commonly known as “vendors.” Once the agreement between Asego and its vendors was done regarding commission distribution, all the vendors were onboarded through API consumption. Apart from this, our developer also created an entirely different interface for Asego’s certified agents, who visit the portal and create quotations on customers’ behalf and then send the same to prospective policyholders. The latter gets a link with all their details filled and a payment link at the bottom of the page. Post the potential policyholder has made the payment, they get their policy, agents get their commission, and admin get predetermined revenue through insurance companies.
Assisted Asego in Bringing Various Service Providers and Vendors On a Single Platform
The biggest challenge in ensuring the smooth operation of Asego’s business was taking Software Development Kits from vendors, including APIs for integration purposes. Since they were not responding actively, we had to arrange formal meetings with vendors to address their concerns and fulfill their pressing needs. This way we were able to onboard hundreds of vendors on Asego’s platform within a short timeframe and made sure that the users on the application can explore wads of insurance policies easily related to car, bike, health, and life. It was Binmile’s seasoned developers who played a key role in merging a multitude of insurance service providers and vendors in the system.
We developed three key models for Asego named Admin, Agent, and Payout models. The Admin model comprises customers, policy buyers, and agents, where all the products, commissions, and consumers were being managed. Then comes the Agent model, where customers don’t buy insurance policies directly but through agents certified by Asego. For these agents, Asego created a separate module containing several videos and learning materials for training purposes. Only when an agent goes through these training materials and excels in the exam conducted by Asego, they can be certified by Asego to sell different policies. And these agents have the authority to sell policies of multiple companies, not just one. Finally, comes the Payout model, which allows the payment of agent’s commission on a monthly and weekly basis.
Met Asego’s Expectations to Comply With Different Terms of Different Vendors
Another challenge with Asego was that it had a large number of stakeholders, who were responsible for determining the cut of each vendor and agent for selling insurance policies. Since every department had its own stakeholders, it was no easy feat to get approval from them regarding commission distribution for hundreds of different agents and vendors. What else? Programming the application to release funds accordingly was another difficult task. That’s when our development team conducted a special meeting with Asego’s representatives and had a discussion about how financial matters would be handled, how the commission would be given, who would get commission on what basis, and how agents would be segregated.
There were four to five categories of insurance and each had a different commission allocation model. There were variations too as in the case of whether the commission has to be given as a fixed amount or a fixed percentage. The commission varied from agent to agent and the sales volume achieved by them. Once the discussion on all these points was done, certain conclusions regarding the commission of different vendors and agents were drawn and our developers programmed the web application accordingly while keeping every party’s unique terms and conditions in mind.
Streamlined Monthly Earning for Asego’s Agents By Introducing the Goal Setting Feature
Within Asego’s application, we integrated a Lead Management System for agents from where they can manage their active leads and prospects easily. An agent might have received certain leads through external contacts or references or they might want to connect with their previous policy buyers for health insurance or travel insurance renewal. In that case, our Lead Management System allows them to cater to prospective customers in and out of Asego’s system.
Another outstanding feature we developed for Asego is the Goal Setting option. It comes in handy in circumstances when a particular agent wants to earn a specific amount of money in a given month. In that case, the system lets them know how many insurance policies they need to sell to achieve their financial goal. The categories of insurance policies can be chosen by the agent itself, like whether they want to go with health insurance, travel insurance, motor insurance, or a combination of all three. The system will segregate the given set of insurances and let the agent know how many policies from each category they need to sell to accomplish their commission goals.
Executed Manual Testing to Check Overall Performance of Asego’s Web Application
While Asego’s web development work was going on, the client wanted to carry out the testing process parallelly. This way they can launch the application without any fuss once it gets developed. To fulfill this request, Binmile testers tapped several tools and resources that were required for manual testing. They created manual test cases and then evaluated those test cases keeping test scenarios and acceptance criteria into consideration. Post testing the application, we realized that the system was scalable enough. Although the existing number of users was high, the current architecture was so flexible that it can easily adapt to heavy load.
However, to conclude this, we performed automation testing, regression testing, and concurrency testing for Asego’s web app. As a result, the client was pleased to have a smoothly operating web application that can exhibit outstanding performance during peak load.
